Happy New Year, everyone! I can’t believe 2017 is over and we are officially in a fresh new year! I am so excited to welcome 2018 with open arms. Last year was full of highs and lows, so much grief and so much MORE love, but I’m ready to say Adios! to 2017. (amiright?!) Here are a few of our highlights from last year.
We traveled more and intentionally explored
The blog excelled and exceeded my expectations for a year
I fell in love with my photography and pursued it
We became closer to those that matter most in life
We celebrated 1 full year of marital bliss
The love I have for my husband grew SO much
We drew closer to the Lord in new ways
We put our tech down to enjoy more moments
We announced our family was growing by 1 !
Today marks the 2nd day of January and like my true self these days, I’m 2 days late to figuring out my resolutions (some things never change). Nonetheless, here I am and I’m ready to kick my New Year’s resolutions in gear! Like last year, I am choosing one word that will hopefully help guide me through 2018 and define the year as a whole.
In 2017 I chose the word intentional as my mantra. I loved how this word and mindset evolved my year overall, so this year will be no different. One word, one overall goal, one mantra for myself to live by in 2018. And here it is:
When I think of the word embrace it’s everything I want my new year to be about. With so many new changes and challenges ahead I want to simply, embrace it all.
Here’s how I plan to live this out in a few aspects of my life.
Family // While we anticipate the arrival of our baby boy in June, I want to embrace all the things motherhood has to offer before, during and after he arrives. My promise to myself is to not be so hard on the changes my body is undergoing to bring new life into this world. I promise to give myself slack during the hard times of learning how to be a mother and embrace the moments while reminding myself, it’s only a season.
Significant Other // I will continue to be intentional in everything I do to show my husband how much my love for him grows each and every day and embrace how special our relationship is with each other.
Personal // I plan to accept my personal hobbies, interests and style for what they are and how they will evolve over the next year during our season of change. Embracing the fact that old passions may not exist in the new year while others will flourish.
How will you live out 2018? If you like the idea of using one word to guide your year, here’s a handy dandy little tool I made to help you pick your own mantra. Feel free to save this, print it and post it up somewhere that reminds you of it each and every day this year.
I’d love to hear which word you choose! Share below in the comments section! Cheers to a new year, friends!
